Compressed air filters

When the air is compressed by the compressor, the amount of solid contaminants, such as dust, increases rapidly. and the so-called condensate, ie a mixture of water and oil. Sometimes there are also gaseous pollutants. It depends largely on the environment in which the compressor works and weather conditions. The humidity of the air sucked in by the compressor has a direct impact on the amount of condensate, which is very chemical aggressive and has an extremely negative impact on the pneumatic installations, air receivers and the compressor tank itself.

In order to prevent damage and ensure proper operation of pneumatic systems and tools, it is necessary to free the compressed air from contamination by using appropriate filters depending on the needs and requirements of air quality. It is thanks to filtration that the durability and service life of pneumatic elements is significantly increased, and in some industries, such as painting, working without compressed air filters is simply not possible.

Basically, compressed air (network) filters can be divided according to the level of filtration into the following classes:

  • pre-filters removing impurities at the level of 5 μm. (III cleanliness class according to the ISO 8573-1 standard)
  • compressed air filters fine filtration min. 1 μm for solid particles and less than 0.1 mg / m3 for oil particles. (II cleanliness class according to ISO 8573-1)
  • final filters (highest accuracy) filtration min. 0.1 μm for solid particles and 0.01 mg / m3 for oil contamination. (I cleanliness class according to ISO 8573-1 standard)
  • carbon filters with a filtration level of oil impurities at the level of 0.008 mg / m3 (cleanliness class I according to ISO 8573-1). Compressed air filters may have a manual or automatic condensate drain, depending on the model or brand.

Some models may be equipped with a cartridge throttling indicator. In addition, where the pressure in the installation exceeds 16 bar, you can use high-pressure filters, which we also offer.

In addition to filters, our offer includes cyclone separators, which are used for the initial condensation of condensate particles by introducing compressed air into a swirling motion and then removing it from the installation. When selecting compressed air filters, the capacity should also be taken into account (apart from the degree of filtration), most often given by the manufacturer in liters per minute or cubic meters per hour.

Our basic offer includes well-known and respected manufacturers of compressed air filters, including: SKP, Atlas Copco, ATS, Parker.

Compressor filters frequently asked questions

    • How often should compressed air filter inserts be replaced?

Depending on the air purity, at least once a year or when the pressure value at the filter outlet drops by 0.35 bar.
    • Can filters be connected in series?

Yes, of course, but the degree of filtration and the direction of flow of the medium must be taken into account. There must always be a pre-filter at the beginning of such an arrangement, and the most fine filter at the end.
