Screw compressors - the most frequently asked questions

    • Which compressor should be a regular, constant speed or inverter for the electric motor?

The correct selection of the compressor to the user's needs is the most important. A wrongly selected compressor will cause problems with its operation. A constant speed screw compressor works best in continuous mode with a load of 80-100%. When we are able to determine the amount of compressed air consumption and it is a more or less constant value, then you can easily choose a standard compressor with a constant speed so that its efficiency is in the range of 80-100% of air consumption by our plant. However, when we are not able to accurately determine the consumption of compressed air and it is additionally very diverse, we should not hesitate to choose a compressor with an inverter for the electric motor. This will allow the compressor to operate in its optimal range.
    • Can the compressor stand in the hall or should it be placed in the compressor room?

Currently available compressors are so quiet that they can work in the production hall. However, the advantage of creating a room for the compressor is that it will not be accessible to unwanted people and we can create ideal working conditions for the compressor (no dust, proper ventilation).
    • Which causes problems with the proper operation of the compressor

Most of the problems with the proper operation of the compressor result from improper, more precisely from insufficient ventilation and cooling of the compressor. In the process of purchasing a compressor, we must always take into account that it is an air-cooled device that uses enormous amounts of air for cooling. Proper ventilation (intake and hot air outlet) in the compressor room will ensure its trouble-free ventilation. The second case, when problems with the correct operation of the compressor arise, result from the power supply (too low voltage, too low amperage or too small cross-section of the power cables) - the compressor must have a separate power supply with its own slow-blow fuse with the value recommended by the manufacturer.
    • How to get the most out of your screw compressor?

In order to optimally use a screw compressor, it should be correctly selected for your needs and additionally use heat, which is a by-product of the compressor's operation (heat the rooms through ventilation ducts or install a heat exchanger in the compressor or next to it). Then we can be sure that the additional heat generated in the compression process was used and not irretrievably wasted.
    • What is the lifetime of screw compressors?

Manufacturers of Atlas Copco and BOGE compressors, which are in our offer, specify the minimum compressor operation time for overhaul at 25 thousand. engine hours and in principle, a guarantee can be given for this period of operation of the screw stage. We have confirmed cases of compressors with a mileage of over 30 thousand kilometers. engine hours without major overhaul - this is mainly due to the correct operation and selection of the compressor to the user's needs.
